Overall it is in about Very Good Plus condition. It shows discoloration on the leather and oxidation on the metal. Mechanics: The action functions correctly. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good Plus to Fine condition. The front of the barrel and the bottom metal show and areas of discoloration. The metal shows scrapes and small scratches. Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its current metal finish. There is fouling and intermittent light erosion in the grooves. The stock rates in about Very Good Plus to Fine overall condition.īore Condition: The lands are semi bright and the grooves are light grey. The LOP measures 13 ½ inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The buttplate shows scrapes & small scratches. Stock Configuration & Condition: The wood shows scrapes & scratches which have been oiled over. When flipped up it becomes a sight ladder that uses a sliding aperture. The rear sight is set between two large protective wings. Sights / Optics: The front sight is a bladed post set between 2 protective ears.
There are a few other small stampings on the rifle. The belly of the stock and bottom of the grip are both marked with “eagle head” inspection stamps. The bottom of the bayonet lug is marked “W”. The bottom of the bolt handle and bottom of the cocking indicator are both marked “R” for Remington. The top left of the receiver is marked with 2 “eagle head” inspection stamps. The left side of the receiver and the top of the bolt handle are both marked with an Ordnance Department “flaming bomb” proof. The front of the Winchester barrel is marked “W / flaming bomb / 6-18”.
